Well, it wasn’t so much of a habit as a necessity. I have been on some amount of pain medication since the moment I was stabilized in the ambulance almost one month ago tomorrow (so crazy to think it’s been a month).
I have been slowly cutting back on my doses and yesterday I actually spent the day without any medication! I haven’t been in pain so to speak, I have just been experiencing extreme discomfort. But yesterday I felt comfortable enough to stop the pills all together and it was nice to realize that I have reached a new level of my recovery – I no longer need stitches or bandages to keep me together and I no longer need drugs to keep me feeling at ease.
Of course I wasn’t completely telling the truth regarding bandages…
Right before I went to work yesterday I managed to slice my finger on a piece of metal, requiring several bandages and a few feel-better kisses from Dave.
Even though my thumb was in pain, my more serious broken hip was not a serious bother during the day and I successfully made it through another half day of work. I was exhausted and starving when I got home so we decided to order thai and relax on the couch.
I relaxed with my feet up while the cat felt more comfortable relaxing with her rear up – anyone else’s cat like to do this?
Happy Friday! Happy Olympics!
May the odds be ever in your favor!
